Not so long ago, Reason released the first single from his upcoming album with the album title track “Azania” featuring Swizz Beatz and Sibongile Khumalo.
The song speaks on issues that are still affecting majority of South African citezines like inequality and poverty. However, since it’s release, “Azania” hasn’t been getting that much radio air play and this is due to the song not being “radio enough” according to Reason.
When expressing the discomfort of not getting enough airplay, the K1 rapper tweeted:
“I genuinely wish compilers could read this tweet & realize how important this song is for radio. #Azania has been struggling to get playlisted on many stations coz its apparently NOT radio enough. Which begs the question, what IS radio enough? Turn up? Trap? Pop? Hits? What?”
Its no secret that local artists in South Africa are still struggling to get the airplay they deserve, while radio compilers still play more international artists.
Reason is one of the many artists that has expressed the outcry for more radio play for his music amongst other local musicians like Cassper Nyovest and Emtee.
